Bluey
A portrait of my granddaughter, Bluey, after a visit to them in Washington state last year. My first attempt back to using oil paint instead of acrylic in many years. It was kinda fun to get back to the oils.

Taking a Break
I recently came across a photo of my sister relaxing with a beer. I had bought a fancy gold frame at a second hand shop and wanted to fill it with something. Funny thing is that the frame was 2.5 feet by 4 feet. So now I have this rather large portrait of my sister with a chair. But it was fun to paint it.

The frame I bought was just too fun to not fill, i thought it would be funny to paint a picture of Marilyn in casual clothes drinking a beer. Just a casual gal in a fancy frame. The thing about big frames? You need big spaces to store them.
Sequoia and Abraham
This young lady is a member of our youth group at church. She likes chickens as much, well perhaps more, than I do. When I saw a photo of her expressing her character when cradling her favorite rooster, Abraham, and a frizzle chicken, I had to paint it.

A Past Autumn
A commission from a photo of some kids, obviously taken around Halloween, who are now in there teens. I find it so enjoyable on a commission like this to see the subjects as they are today. Correspondence with their Mom allowed me to see them as they have matured. Better yet, Lauren, the little girl in the photo was there when I delivered the painting. The youngster I had become accustomed to through the painting process had become a beautiful teenager.

Corra
Another study in portraiture. Daughter of some friends, this composition was taken from a video shot for a church event. I’m enjoying the process of practice, practice, practice.

Here’s Lo - Behold
Sometimes one feels the need to move from landscape to portraiture. But who do you paint? In this instance, my granddaughter Lorelei, proved to be a perfect victim, eh, model.

Dear Ol' Dad
Cap askew and a shit-eatin’ grin on his face, I couldn’t pass up this scene of my Dad on a fishing trip years ago. Though he’s been gone a while now, that look is oh-so-familiar.

Welcome Back
It had been years since I painted a portrait of anyone. In order to reintroduce myself to the process I decided on a self portrait. That way if anything turned out wonky it was on me.

Years Gone By
This subject is now well into her teenage years. I found this photo taken years ago of a friend’s daughter that I thought I’d try to capture in acrylic.
